A Colourful Story, ISTD Competition
The Colour Green In Ancient Egypt
For this module I was supplied multiple briefs by the ISTD (International Society of Typographic Designers). I had to select one brief out the selection supplied and tasked to problem solve the specific brief.  The breif which i had chosen to take forward was the ‘A Colourful Story’ brief.  In this brief I had to explore, and express the use, meaning and significance of one particular colour in the culture of out choice. I chose the colour green in the era of Ancient Egypt.
I was inspired by the contradictory connotations of the colour green in the culture and era of Ancient Egypt.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, the colour green was associated with life, vegetation and protection. However, it was also linked with the ideas of death, the after life and resurrection. Through my posters, I wish to bring the stories of these magnificent beliefs to a modern audience and create a visually stimulating way for people to learn or understand these ancient beliefs.
The design of my publications are inspired by Swiss design such as Wolfgang Weingart and also the design of ‘Octavo’, a typographic magazine created by London-based design practice 8vo.
